Twitter’s Director Suzanne Xie wrote a blog on Tuesday revealing a new feature that permits users to restrict who can answer to their tweets.

Everyone will have the alternative to use these settings, twitter rolled out some testing in may so that clients feel more secure, have more significant discussions, but then observe the diverse purposes of perspectives, as individuals are more content when they can decide who can respond to their tweet.

How Does It Work?

Before sending the tweet, there will be three alternatives for individuals to choose from:  everybody, just individuals they follow or just individuals they mention. There will be a little globe symbol at the bottom of your tweet. Beforehand, Twitter’s just alternative was everybody.

If you pick a setting other than the default, the answer symbol will be turned grey out for anybody not permitted to answer. Regardless of whether they can’t answer, other Twitter users can at present retweet, remark, offer, or like the tweet being referred to.

The thought behind constraining replies is more control. In particular, setting boundaries around the individuals who can reply with hate or abusive comments, troll, and target them. Mostly those individuals who write about a particularly sensitive issue or political debate end up getting trolled massively.

“These settings assist some with people feeling more secure and could prompt more significant discussions.”  Xie added in the blog.

These settings are indeed a new method to block out unnecessary discussions or opinions. More than 70% of people have used the feature and they didn’t have to mute or block the person.

More people are giving their feedback as they feel more protected from spam and misuse.
