Apple seems to support its new custom-designed ARMchips and slightly drifting away from intel’s chipsets. But the company promises that I’ll still support Intel’s thunderbolt USB-connectivity standard on new apple silicon macs.

Apple partnered with Intel to design and develop Thunderbolt, and today its been cherished by customers in terms of its speed and flexibility it brings to every mac. The Apple spokesperson stated that “we’ll remain committed to the future of thunderbolt and will support it in macs and apple silicon” in a statement to the verge.

Apple remains to stick to its standards make a lot of sense. hence apple was the who helped to develop the original thunderbolt standard in a collaboration with intel.

Apple’s ARM-based iPad pro in particular stands out as featuring a regular USB-C stacking port, not a Thunderbolt 3 connector. Apple’s ARM-based developer transition kit also only features standard USB-C ports.

The news as it says Intel designed its upcoming thunderbolt 4 standards which will be based on the USB4- specs standard and which uses the same USB-C connector that Thunderbolt 3 already does today. Both Thunderbolt 3 and 4 more guaranteed features compared to standard USB3 and USB4 that they’re offer consistency that regular USB-C standard sorely lacking in.

Thunderbolt offers 40 Gbps speed and stricter hardware requirements for manufactures devices will support either 4k display or 8k display and allow a data transfer speed of 32gbps -which should be a boon for external storage and external Gbps.

Apple is expected to launch its first ARM-based macs before the end of 2020.
